The Project

After 6 weeks of working on a contingent based recruitment plan with a number of other specialist agencies based in London and Manchester, there was little progress made with regards to sourcing candidates of the calibre required.
In addition to a distinct shortage of qualified and experienced compliance sector candidates in the local area, the company had a historic issue with their brand perception in the market, preventing access to top talent from the major players in the sector.
  
Spencer Edwards was invited to review their recruitment strategy on these positions. In addition to providing an extensive search of the market, we worked closely with the company on addressing their incorrect perception in the market for potential employees, thus making the prospect of joining the company a more attractive one. In particular, the company wanted to be more competitive when looking to attract individuals from direct national competitors and the major 'big name' mainstream Banks & Financial Institutions.

During a consultative discussion, we identified 2 key areas that required attention.

  1. Management of expectations, backed by our local market insight
  2. A positive brand communication plan

It was agreed that a retained head hunting process was the best solution.

  • During this consultation, new role profiles were created and designed by Spencer Edwards
  • A major networking campaign across Yorkshire and the UK combined with a formal headhunting exercise was undertaken
  • Timelines for key stages in the process were agreed and monitored
  

The Results

7 candidates shortlisted for first interview
4 candidates invited for final interview
3 of the final stage candidates were appointed
 
Nb. Furthermore the 4th candidate from the final interviews was offered an additional role as IT / Operational Risk Manager.
